Brother GS3700
✨ White Glove Service — free one-on-one lesson included
🌱 New to sewing? This is the machine we'd start you on — a lovely, honest place to begin.

The GS3700 is fully mechanical — beautifully simple, and built to keep going for years. It carries you through your first wobbly seam, through the whole course, and it's still going strong years later.

You turn the dials and you're fully in control — honestly the best way to learn what every setting really does.

What makes it a solid entry-level machine

What you get ✓ — what a cheaper machine does instead ✗ — and how that cheap one actually feels.

🔩 It sits steady, so your stitches stay neat
Built on a metal chassis — it stays steady and lasts for years.
A cheap all-plastic body flexes and "walks," so stitches skip and seams wander.
…and you blame yourself, not the machine — the fastest way to decide "I just can't sew."
🪡 No squinting to thread the needle
The automatic needle threader does it for you.
Bargain machines make you thread by hand, squinting at a tiny eye.
…you're worn out and frustrated before the very first stitch.
🧵 You never run out of thread mid-seam
Drop the see-through bobbin in, watch your thread — never caught out mid-seam.
Cheap front-loaders jam, birds-nest and need pulling apart to fix.
…every jam feels like a personal failure, and you unpick more than you sew.
🕳️ A perfect buttonhole in one step
The whole buttonhole, sewn for you and sized to your button.
Cheaper machines leave you with a fiddly four-step version — or none at all.
…and lopsided buttonholes make a lovely garment look "homemade" in the bad way.
✳️ Every stitch a beginner needs
37 stitches — utility, stretch and decorative — real room to learn and grow.
Most bargain machines give you barely 20 flimsy ones.
…so you hit the ceiling the moment a project asks for something it can't do.
⚙️ It powers through real fabric, not just scraps
Enough power and weight for everyday fabric, layers and light denim.
Mini and toy machines stall and skip on anything thicker than a t-shirt.
…and you can't sew the real things you actually bought a machine to make.
🛡️ Built to last
Metal gears and mechanical simplicity — a buy-once machine.
Plastic-geared cheapies strip a tooth and stop working — often inside a year.
…money wasted, and many people quit sewing for good, certain it was them.
💡 See your stitching clearly
A bright LED right on your work for long sessions.
Cheap machines give you a dim bulb, or none.
…so you strain to see the seam, and little mistakes creep in unnoticed.
Why it's perfect for beginners
  • Simple dials you can see — turn one and watch the stitch change; nothing hidden in menus.
  • Reverse lever — lock the start and end of every seam so nothing unravels.
  • Free arm (built in) — slide off the tray to sew sleeves, cuffs and trouser hems.
  • Drop feed (built in) — for free-motion darning and quilting when you're ready.
  • Light and easy to move — carry it to class, tuck it away at home.
  • Straightforward and forgiving — few parts, nothing fragile to fuss over.
💛 By the way — between how simple it is and the free lesson we give you, it's honestly very hard to get wrong.
The Ease & Convenience Scale
How much the machine does for you
For a beginner who wants a genuinely solid machine to learn on, this is where the GS3700 shines.
GS3700
A150 F420 NV2700
Simple & hands-onDoes the most for you
  • Accessibility — basic.
🦶 Needs the foot pedal · 🦵 no knee lift · 👁️ no screen (but the auto-threader helps low vision) · ✋ auto-threader + drop-in bobbin help stiff hands; you cut threads by hand.
  • 🙌 Hands-free: low — you guide everything yourself.
  • 🧵 Fabrics it handles: everyday cottons, linens, light denim and basic layers (not heavy multi-layer or very stretchy knits).
  • 🔇 Noise: a gentle mechanical hum.
  • 💪 Strength: light-to-medium home use — and it warms up faster than usual, so not for long non-stop runs.
  • 🧶 How much it sews: home-scale, everyday projects.
  • 🧠 Mental energy: you're in the driver's seat — more effort, but you learn faster.
  • ⏱️ Time & ✨ finish: hands-on and unhurried; lovely everyday results.
  • ♾️ Longevity: a solid, buy-once mechanical.
The pricier machines climb on every line — button-start (no pedal), set-your-own speed, a guiding screen, more fabrics, quieter, heavy-duty, and they do the thinking for you.
Ready for more? The next step up
  • Set-your-own speed — the GS runs from the foot pedal only; the A150 and up add a speed slider and start/stop button.
  • A screen that guides you — the A150, F420 and NV2700 show settings on a screen and suggest the right foot.
  • Automatic thread cutter — the A150 and up snip both threads at a button.
  • Flawless fabric feed — the F420 & NV2700 use the Square Feed system for silk, denim, stretch and quilts.
  • Presser-foot pressure control — adjustable on the F420, automatic on the NV2700.
  • Far more stitches + lettering — 150 → 180 → 281 stitches and fonts, vs 37 and no lettering.
  • Knee lift & design-your-own stitch — on the F420 & NV2700.
  • Full embroidery, sent to it wirelessly — only the NV2700 embroiders, and it joins your home WiFi so designs land on the machine straight from your phone or laptop — no USB stick to save and plug in.

Honestly: the GS3700 is happiest on everyday fabrics and light denim — for daily heavy, multi-layer work, one of the machines above serves you better.

The honest bit — what owners wish was different
  • No automatic thread cutter or needle up/down — it's mechanical, so you trim by hand.
  • Can labour on heavy, multi-layer fabric — a few owners report dropped stitches on thick denim.
  • Lighter body — some feel it's less solid than an old all-metal machine.
  • No carry case or walking foot in the box.
  • Overseas, some mention slow after-sales support — not an issue with us: authorised Brother dealer, in-house service.
🌱 The honest frame: the GS3700 is an entry-level, mechanical machine — the right place to start, not a computerised or industrial one. It won't fight you while you learn, and it won't be broken and in the bin within a year.

Computerised, made easy
Brother Innov-is A150The entry-level computerised machine
R10,450
Photos, features & full description
Brother Innov-is A150
🏆 Flagship of the A-Series✨ White Glove Service — free lesson included
🪄 Ready to stop fiddling and start creating? This is the machine that quietly does the hard parts for you.

The A150 is the perfect entry-level computerised machine — the flagship of Brother’s A-Series, and the friendliest way into computerised sewing. Where a mechanical machine leaves you to work everything out yourself, the A150 does the fiddly parts for you and shows you the way.

It's computerised help without the overwhelm: press a button to choose your stitch, and the machine threads the needle, sets your pace, cuts your threads and even tells you what to do next. All the little things that trip a beginner up — quietly taken care of. And it's a machine you grow into, not out of.

What makes it a genuine step up

What the A150 does for you ✓ — what a simpler machine makes you do ✗ — and how that feels.

🤖 Fully automatic — you set the speed, it does the rest
This is a fully automatic, computerised machine — not a manual one. Pick your pace on the speed slider, press start, and it sews at exactly that speed on its own. No foot pedal to pump, nothing to babysit or nurse.
A manual machine has you working the speed by foot the whole time — lose focus for a second and it races away from you.
…you just guide the fabric while the machine does the driving.
📺 A screen that guides you
The LCD tells you which foot to fit, and the right stitch length and tension.
A simpler machine leaves you guessing — thumbing through a manual for the right settings.
…the second-guessing that makes you hesitate before you start is simply gone.
🖥️ It tells you what's wrong
Set something up wrong and the screen says so in plain words — "lower the presser foot," "re-thread the top thread" — and gives you the fix.
A mechanical machine just jams or won't sew, and leaves you guessing what went wrong.
…no more staring at a stuck machine wondering what you did.
✂️ It cuts your threads
Press the scissors button and it snips the top and bottom threads for you.
A basic machine has you reaching for scissors after every single seam.
…a hundred tiny interruptions a day, quietly removed.
▶️ Sew without the pedal
A start/stop button and a speed slider let you sew at a calm pace you set.
A pedal-only machine races or stalls as your foot wavers.
…steady, unhurried control instead of wrestling the pedal.
🎯 It stops with the needle down
The needle stays down in the fabric when you stop — so you can pivot around corners and curves without the fabric shifting.
A basic machine leaves the needle up, so corners and curves drift.
…crisp corners and smooth curves, without the fiddle.
🔒 It ties off your seams
One button locks the start and end of a seam so nothing unravels.
On a basic machine you reverse and backstitch by hand every time.
…a neat, professional finish becomes automatic.
✳️ Room to be creative for years
150 stitches and 4 fonts — and you can combine up to 70 into your own patterns and save them (or monogram "Made with Love").
A basic machine gives you a handful, and forgets your settings every time.
…years of room to be creative, without ever outgrowing it.
Why it's a joy to sew on
  • Quiet and smooth — it glides, so long sessions stay relaxing.
  • Light to lift — easy to carry to a class and put away.
  • Instant go-to buttons (0–9) — your everyday stitches, one tap away.
  • A bright LED on the needle — kind on the eyes.
  • Fine tension — beautiful, even stitches from sheers to denim.
  • Twin-needle sewing — switch to a twin needle for the professional parallel topstitching you see on nice ready-to-wear.
  • One clever multi-purpose foot — zips, piping, edge & curve sewing and raw-edge appliqué, all from a single foot.
  • A free companion app (Artspira) — add your machine for how-to videos made for it, plus project inspiration and a maker community.
  • An alloy inner body — metal inside, not all plastic; reliable and fuss-free.
  • It grows with you — 150 stitches, a memory and monogramming mean you won't outgrow it.
Simple for a beginner, at every turn

This is the whole point of an entry-level computerised machine — it helps you, instead of leaving you to guess. On top of the automatic threading, cutting and on-screen guidance you've just seen, here's how it keeps everything else easy:

  • Pick a stitch with a button — press a number and it's set; no dials to puzzle over.
  • A drop-in, see-through bobbin — pop it in, watch your thread, and never run out mid-seam.
  • Set a slow, safe speed — the slider keeps things gentle while you learn; nothing runs away from you.
  • One-step buttonholes — the whole buttonhole, sized to your button, in one go.
  • A bright work light — clear and kind on the eyes for long sessions.
  • Light to lift — easy to get out, set up and put away.
  • Neat stitches from the start — it handles the tension, so your work looks tidy straight away — the fastest confidence-builder there is.
💛 By the way — computerised machines like this are built to make sewing effortless and take the struggle out of it. In your free White Glove lesson, we show you exactly how — so it feels easy from day one.

  • Accessibility — high.
    🦶 No foot pedal needed (start/stop button) · 🦵 no knee lift (that's the F420) · 👁️ guiding screen + one-action threader + LED on the needle · ✋ auto threader, auto cutter, needle up/down, drop-in bobbin.
  • 🙌 Hands-free: high — it threads, cuts, ties off and paces itself.
  • 🧵 Fabrics it handles: everyday cottons, sheers, denim and several layers, and stretch/knits — a wide range, heavier fabrics included.
  • 🔇 Noise: quiet and smooth.
  • 💪 Strength & heat: steady for regular, ambitious sewing — and it stays cool and composed through long sessions (no heat issues, unlike the entry machine). Just not built for big free-motion quilts.
  • 🧶 How much it sews: comfortable daily use, and it grows with you for years.
  • 🧠 Mental energy: the screen does the thinking on settings — far less to hold in your head.
  • ⏱️ Time saved: automation saves you time at every step.
  • Professional finish: fine tension and twin-needle topstitching give a genuinely professional look on any fabric.
  • ♾️ Longevity: a machine you grow into, not out of — you'll never feel it lacking.
The F420 and NV2700 climb higher still — Square Feed for flawless feeding, a knee lift, adjustable pressure, and (on the NV2700) full embroidery.
Ready for more? The next step up
  • Flawless fabric feed — the F420 & NV2700 add the Square Feed system for perfectly even feeding on silk, denim, stretch and quilts.
  • Presser-foot pressure control — adjustable on the F420, automatic on the NV2700 (fixed on the A150).
  • Knee lift — raise the foot hands-free on the F420 & NV2700.
  • More room & power for quilting — a bigger throat and more muscle on the F420 and up, for large or free-motion quilts.
  • A colour touchscreen + far more stitches — 291 stitches and a 12 cm touchscreen on the NV2700.
  • Full embroidery, sent to it wirelessly — only the NV2700 embroiders, and it joins your home WiFi so designs land on the machine straight from your phone or laptop — no saving each one onto a USB stick and plugging it in.

That said — the A150 is already a big leap from the GS3700, and a dream for everyday sewing and dressmaking.

The honest bit — what owners wish was different
  • A little to learn at first with all the functions — which is exactly what your free White Glove lesson and our after-sales support are for. We walk you through the whole machine until every button feels like second nature, so nothing ever stays confusing.
  • Not for big or free-motion quilts — a snug throat and jumpy free-motion; big quilters want the F420 or higher.
  • Stretch fabrics can need the right foot and stitch chosen.
  • A keen quilter would add a walking foot & free-motion foot — just ask us, we'll sort you out.

On balance, owners adore it and keep it going for years — these are just the honest wishes.

🪄 The honest frame: the A150 is the confident middle — real computerised convenience and a beautiful finish, without the flagship price. It's a dream for dressmaking, everyday sewing and piecing. If your heart is set on big free-motion quilts or embroidery, look to the F420 or NV2700.

Brother Innov-is F420
✦ Sew & Quilt✨ White Glove Service — free lesson included
🧵 Ready to sew like a pro — to sell, to quilt, to go all in? This is the machine that gives you a flawless, professional finish on anything.

The F420 is a computerised sewing and quilting machine built around Brother's Square Feed Drive System — the reason your stitches come out flawless and even on any fabric, from delicate satin to heavy denim. It's the machine for when "good enough" isn't, and a professional finish is the whole point.

Adjustable pressure, a hands-free knee lift and a roomy 7-inch workspace make it a genuine sew-and-quilt machine — the one people reach for when they start sewing to order, quilting properly, or building a business.

What makes it a genuine step up

What the F420 does for you ✓ — what a standard machine makes you do ✗ — and how that feels.

🤖 Fully automatic — even on the big, thick jobs
A fully automatic, computerised machine — not a manual one. Set your pace on the speed slider, press start, and it sews at that speed on its own — right through quilts, denim and layers. No foot pedal to pump, nothing to babysit or nurse.
A manual machine has you working the speed by foot the whole time — and it's hardest to control exactly when the job is big or thick.
…you guide the fabric; the machine does the driving, even on the heavy stuff.
🎯 Silk, denim or stretch — it all feeds perfectly
The Square Feed grips your fabric from four points, so it feeds perfectly evenly — satin, denim, stretch, quilts — and even sews in any direction without turning the work.
A standard machine drags fabric on two feed dogs, so slippery and thick fabrics wander and pucker.
…the difference between "homemade" and a finish that looks bought.
🎚️ Delicates and denim both behave
Dial the pressure to match your fabric — light for chiffon, firm for denim.
A fixed-pressure machine fights you on anything very delicate or bulky.
…no more coaxing tricky fabric through and hoping for the best.
🦵 Lift the foot without letting go of your work
Nudge your knee and the foot lifts — pivot and reposition without letting go of your fabric.
Without it, you stop, take both hands off, and lose your place.
…you keep your rhythm, especially on quilts and curves.
📐 Room to wrangle a whole quilt
A roomy 7-inch space to the right of the needle for quilts and big projects.
A cramped machine bunches a whole quilt up against the arm.
…big projects stop being a wrestling match.
🎨 Design your own stitches
Design your own stitch patterns from scratch with My Custom Stitch, and save them.
A basic machine leaves you stuck with only the presets.
…your work carries something that's genuinely yours.
Why it's a joy to sew on
  • Quiet and easily controlled — reviewers' own words, even through hours of work.
  • A big, clear screen with plenty of on-screen guidance.
  • Sews in every direction without turning the fabric — the Square Feed's clever party trick, brilliant for appliqué and badges.
  • 7 presser feet, a tool kit & hard case — all in the box, ready to go.
  • Auto everything — it threads, cuts, ties off and lifts the needle for you.
  • Built sturdy (8.5 kg) — a planted, professional feel; that weight keeps your stitching rock-steady.
New to sewing? It might be the smartest machine you buy

If you're new to sewing but you've got the budget, hear us out: the F420 could be the smartest first machine you ever buy — because it's the last one you'll need.

  • It makes you look good from day one — the Square Feed feeds fabric so evenly that your very first seams come out straight and professional, not wonky. Nothing builds a beginner's confidence faster.
  • It takes the annoying parts off your plate — it threads the needle, cuts your threads and sets your speed for you. Reviewers literally call it "sewing made a breeze."
  • The screen does the deciding — press a number and it sets the stitch, then tells you the foot and settings, so you're never lost.
  • No frustration, no quitting — cheap machines fight beginners with jams, wonky feeding and tension trouble (the reason so many give up). The F420 simply doesn't.
  • You'll never outgrow it — as your skills grow, the machine is already there waiting. No upgrading, no starting over. Buy once, love it for decades.
💛 The one honest thing: it does more than a bare-basics starter, so there's a little more to get to know — which is exactly what your free White Glove lesson is for. We take you through the whole machine, so it feels easy from your very first day, and you walk away with a machine for life.

  • 🙌 Hands-free: very high — the knee lift plus full automation.
  • 🧵 Fabrics it handles: the widest range — satins, sheers, cottons, stretch, and heavy denim and multiple bulky layers; the Square Feed powers through seams that make lesser machines skip.
  • Professional finish: its headline — the Square Feed gives a flawless, even, genuinely professional finish on any fabric.
  • 🔇 Noise: quiet and composed.
  • 💪 Strength: sturdy and substantial — happy with bulky seams, layers and light quilting (add a walking foot for full quilting).
  • 🧶 How much it sews: business-capable — sew to order and quilt, all day.
  • 🧠 Mental energy: it handles feeding, pressure and finishing — you focus on creating.
  • ⏱️ Time saved: pro features shave time off every step.
  • ♾️ Longevity: a serious, grow-with-you machine.
The NV2700 goes further still — full embroidery, a colour touchscreen and automatic tension.
Ready for more? The next step up

The F420 is already a big pro step up. Here's what the NV2700 adds on top:

  • Full embroidery — stitch designs, monograms and motifs, not just sewing (only the NV2700).
  • Designs sent wirelessly — you'll be pulling in embroidery designs, so the NV2700 joins your home WiFi: send them to the machine straight from your phone or laptop, instead of saving each one onto a USB stick and walking it over.
  • A 12 cm colour touchscreen — and 291 built-in stitches.
  • Automatic tension — the machine senses and sets it for you.
  • Even more room and power for the very biggest quilts.

Honestly, most people sewing to order or quilting never need more than the F420 — the jump above is really about built-in embroidery.

The honest bit — what owners wish was different
  • No walking foot or extension table in the box — you'll want both to fully quilt. Just ask us — we'll sort you out.
  • The 7" workspace is roomy, not huge — the very biggest quilts want a larger machine.

On balance, reviewers rate it a strong-value all-rounder that punches above its price — these are just the honest trade-offs.

🧵 The honest frame: the F420 is the pro's all-rounder — a professional finish and genuine sew-and-quilt features without the flagship embroidery price. If you want built-in embroidery and a touchscreen, that's the NV2700. If you're sewing to sell, quilting, or you just want it to look bought-not-made, this is the one.

🏆 Top of the Range
Brother Innov-is NV2700
🏆 Top of the Range✨ White Glove Service — free lesson included
🏆 Want a machine that does it all — sew, quilt and embroider, beautifully — and does the thinking for you? This is the best we stock.

The NV2700 is the best combination machine we stock — a computerised sewing, quilting and embroidery machine that does all three, beautifully. It reads your fabric and sets its own tension and pressure, feeds flawlessly with the Square Feed system, and shows everything in colour on a 4.9-inch touchscreen. A professional finish, made effortless.

It's built on Brother's 100+ years of Japanese engineering — the machine for when you want the very best: the room, the power, the huge design library, and the freedom to make anything you can imagine. It doesn't just keep up with you; it does the thinking for you.

What makes it special

What the NV2700 does for you ✓ — what most machines make you do ✗ — and how that feels.

🤖 Fully automatic — the most hands-off machine we stock
A fully automatic, computerised machine — not a manual one. Set your speed, press start, and it sews itself at that pace. Of everything we stock, this is the one that does the most for you — you're never pumping a pedal, babysitting it or nursing it along.
A manual machine has you controlling the speed by foot the whole time — it races ahead the moment your attention slips.
…you just guide the fabric; the NV2700 does the driving and the thinking.
🎛️ Perfect stitches, and you never touch a tension dial
It reads your fabric and thread and sets the tension itself, so your stitches stay perfectly balanced — every time.
On most machines, tension is the single most-hated setting — you fiddle, test scraps, and hope.
…the one thing that trips everyone up, simply gone.
🎨 Embroider your own designs on anything
258 built-in designs, 13 fonts, monograms and frames — stitched out for you on a huge 260 × 160 mm area.
A sewing-only machine can't embroider at all.
…your name, your motifs, your designs — on anything you make.
🧵 It adjusts to the fabric all by itself
The ICAPS system senses the fabric's thickness and adjusts the foot pressure in real time.
Other machines make you set pressure by hand — or don't let you at all.
…flawless stitching across seams and layers, with nothing to think about.
🖥️ See it in full colour before you sew it
See your stitches and designs in full colour on the touchscreen, and edit them with a tap.
A small mono screen — or dials — leaves you guessing what you'll get.
…you see it before you sew it.
🖥️ It tells you what's wrong
Plain-English prompts, plus automatic upper and lower thread sensors that stop and tell you the moment a thread runs low or breaks.
A mechanical machine just jams, and leaves you guessing what went wrong.
…no ruined rows, no mystery.
How it feels to sew on it
The luxury is in the quiet.

Solid and still under your hands. Quiet enough to think. The fabric glides through, the screen glows, and everything just… works — because it sets its own tension and pressure while you simply create. It feels expensive the moment you press start, and it's built to feel that way for decades, not years.

Sews everything

From delicate silks and sheers to denim and thick, layered fabrics, the NV2700 handles it all — the Square Feed, automatic pressure and automatic tension carry the fabric evenly, and the included walking foot makes tricky layers genuinely easy. Whatever you want to make, in whatever fabric, it just sews it.

Embroider anything
🎨 A full embroidery studio, built in
  • 260 × 160 mm embroidery area — one of the largest in its class, for big, bold designs.
  • 258 designs, 13 fonts & 140 frames — monograms, motifs and borders, ready to go.
  • Edit on the colour touchscreen — resize, rotate, flip, curve text and colour-sort, all on screen.
  • An LED pointer places your design exactly where you want it.
  • Wireless + USB — add endless new designs from the Artspira app or a USB stick.
Quilt beautifully
🧶 A real quilter's machine, too
  • A walking foot is included as standard — so thick, tricky layers feed smoothly and enjoyably.
  • Free-motion mode with adjustable foot height — for stippling, feathers and freehand quilting.
  • The biggest workspace here — 8.3" to the right of the needle (the F420 gives 7"), so a full quilt isn't a wrestling match.
  • Built-in quilt embroidery blocks & borders, plus ruler-foot compatibility for decorative quilt designs.
  • The Square Feed and knee lift make piecing and big projects effortless.
Imagine what you'll make
✨ This is where your ideas come to life
  • A professional, store-bought finish on everything you sew — honestly, often better than store-bought, because it's made just for you.
  • Take your clothes up a notch — monogram a jacket, embroider a cuff, add your own designs to anything you wear.
  • Your own embroidery on everything you make — gifts, homeware, baby clothes, quilts — all uniquely yours.
  • The freedom to bring any idea to life.
Why it's a joy to sew on
  • A see-through drop-in bobbin — and automatic thread sensors that warn you before you ever run dry.
  • Knee lift + pivot function — raise the foot hands-free, and turn ultra-sharp corners automatically.
  • Sideways / multidirectional feed — sew decorative stitches in any direction, no turning the fabric.
  • Auto everything — it threads, cuts, lowers the foot, ties off, and sets tension and pressure for you.
  • Built-in tutorials — a sewing tutor on the screen, whenever you need one.
  • Quiet and smooth — a calm, refined machine, up to 850 stitches a minute.
New to sewing but want the very best?

Then it may be the perfect machine — because it removes the two hardest things in sewing for you. It sets its own tension and its own pressure, so the settings that defeat most beginners simply aren't yours to worry about.

  • The touchscreen guides you — in full colour, showing exactly what you'll get, with built-in tutorials.
  • It does the thinking — tension, pressure, threading, cutting, all automatic.
  • It tells you if something's off — in plain words, with the fix.
  • You'll never outgrow it — it's a machine to grow into for a lifetime, with room for quilting and embroidery whenever you're ready.
💛 By the way — even the most advanced machine feels simple the moment someone shows you. Computerised machines like this are built to take the struggle out of sewing, and in your free White Glove lesson we show you exactly how — then the whole thing is yours to explore.

🦶 No foot pedal needed · 🦵 knee lift · 👁️ large colour touchscreen, advanced threader & an LED needle pointer · ✋ auto threader, cutter, foot-down, needle up/down, drop-in bobbin — and automatic tension and pressure, so there's nothing to set by hand.
  • 🙌 Hands-free: the highest — it sets tension and pressure, threads, cuts, ties off and lowers the foot.
  • 🧵 Fabrics it handles: everything — delicate silks and sheers through to denim and thick layers, made easy by the Square Feed, ICAPS, auto tension and the included walking foot.
  • Professional finish: the best of all — automatic tension, automatic pressure and Square Feed give a flawless, embroidery-grade finish, often better than store-bought.
  • 📐 Room to work: the largest here — an 8.3" workspace for quilts and big projects.
  • 🔇 Noise: quiet and refined.
  • 💪 Strength: substantial and powerful — layers, quilting and all-day use, and it stays cool and composed throughout.
  • 🧠 Mental energy: it does the thinking — tension, pressure and settings, all automatic.
  • ♾️ Longevity & value: built to last decades — and quality Brother machines hold their value, so it's an investment, not an expense.
It does everything the other machines do — and adds embroidery, automatic tension and pressure, a colour touchscreen and the biggest workspace.
The best all-rounder — the honest picture

For one machine that sews, quilts and embroiders, there's no better all-rounder in this class — reviewers say it does each one "very well indeed."

  • "Isn't a combo machine a jack-of-all-trades?" Not this one — it's a genuinely capable sewing machine, a genuine quilter and a genuine embroidery machine, all in one, without taking over your living room.
  • Want pure embroidery? If embroidery is your whole focus, Brother also makes dedicated embroidery machines that go further — just ask us and we'll point you to the right one.
  • The sweet spot: if you want to do everything, beautifully, in one machine, this is it.
An investment, not an expense
💎 A machine to keep — and to pass on
  • An heirloom — a well-kept machine like this is something your children and grandchildren could one day sew on.
  • Holds its value — quality Brother machines have a strong resale market, so it keeps much of its worth if you ever move it on.
  • Built to last decades — Japanese-engineered, and serviced in-house by us, for life.
The honest bit — what to know
  • It's a substantial 16 kg — and that heft is a good thing: it sits planted and rock-steady, with barely any vibration, which is part of why the finish is so clean. If you're taking it to class, it's a two-handed lift or a rolling bag.
  • Embroidery has a gentle learning curve — but the colour touchscreen, the built-in tutorials and your free White Glove lesson make it genuinely easy to pick up.
🏆 The honest frame: the NV2700 is the best combination machine we stock — sew, quilt and embroider, with the machine doing the thinking for you, built on Brother's Japanese engineering. It's an investment, not an expense: it holds its value, lasts for decades, and is the kind of machine you pass down. Meet your overlocker — the pro finish

Clean, professional edges — no fraying, no fuss.

For seams that look bought
Brother 2504DThe entry overlocker
R6,750
Photos, features & full description
Brother 2504D overlocker
✦ Professional finishing✨ White Glove Service — free lesson included
🧵 Want your clothes to look shop-bought, not homemade? An overlocker is the secret — and the 2504D is the affordable one that gets you there.

The 2504D is the affordable way to give your makes a professional, shop-bought finish — neat edges that never fray, and flat, stretchy seams that move with the fabric. It's brilliant on stretchy knits like t-shirts and activewear, and just as happy on silk or denim.

And it does a real range of finishes: neat seams, rolled and blind hems, flatlock, pin tucks and decorative edges.

What it does for you

Not a spec list — what it actually feels like to use.

🧵 A finished, shop-bought edge as you sew
It sews the seam, trims off the extra fabric and wraps the edge — all in one pass — so nothing ever frays.
On a sewing machine you sew, then zigzag the edge separately: slow, bulky, and it still frays over time.
…the difference between "homemade" and "where did you buy that?"
🎚️ Knits that come out flat, not wavy
Stretchy fabric feeds evenly, so t-shirt and jersey seams lie flat and smooth (and you can make ruffles on purpose) — that's the differential feed doing the work.
Without it, stretchy fabric waves and puckers into a "lettuce edge."
…t-shirts and jersey that look shop-bought, not stretched.
🔄 Seams that stretch with you and don't pop
Strong, stretchy seams that move with the garment on knits, and neat finished edges on everything else — the choice of 3 or 4 threads.
A plain straight seam pops and snaps on stretchy fabric.
…activewear and knits that actually hold up.
🪡 The threading made as simple as it gets
You just follow the colours — no memorising, no guesswork — using ordinary sewing needles. That's the colour-coded, lay-in system.
Old overlockers were famous threading nightmares that put people off for good.
…the one thing that scares people off overlockers, sorted.
✂️ A neat finish on anything from silk to denim
Turn a few dials and it's set for whatever you're sewing — fine silk through to thick denim (stitch length, cutting width and pressure all adjust).
A one-setting finish puckers delicates and struggles on thick layers.
…a neat finish on absolutely everything.
Why it's a joy to use
  • It's quick — far faster than overcasting an edge on a regular machine, so finishing flies by.
  • A bright light over the needle — see your stitching clearly, even on dark fabrics.
  • Swap feet in a click — no screws to fiddle with, so you keep your flow.
  • Cuffs, sleeves and small round pieces are easy — the free arm slips right inside them.
  • More than plain seams — rolled hems, invisible hems, pin tucks and flatlock, with a blind-hem foot included.
  • Nothing special to buy — it uses ordinary needles, and a trim trap catches the offcuts.
What it sews — from t-shirts to denim

This is where an overlocker earns its place:

  • Brilliant on knits & stretch — t-shirts, activewear and jersey get strong, flexible seams that move with the garment, exactly where a regular machine puckers and pops.
  • Neat on everyday wovens — cottons, linens and light denim get a clean, professional edge that never frays.
  • Gentle with fine fabrics — silks, chiffon and sheers stay flat, thanks to the differential feed and pressure dial.

ℹ️ Where it works hardest: it's an entry overlocker, not an industrial one — so a thick stack of heavy denim seams is the one place it has to push. For daily heavy-duty work, you'd look higher.

New to overlockers? This is the one to start on

Overlockers have a scary reputation — earned by older machines that were genuine threading nightmares. The 2504D is built to be the opposite: it's designed to be foolproof for beginners, and its near-twin (the hugely popular Brother 1034D) is widely called the best beginner overlocker there is.

  • You just follow the colours — the threading paths are colour-coded, so there's no memorising.
  • The trickiest thread is made easy — a special lower-looper system holds it in place for you.
  • Nothing new to learn on needles — it takes ordinary sewing needles.
  • Not effortless like the AIRFLOW's air threading — but about as easy as hands-on threading gets, and worlds friendlier than the old overlockers that put people off.
  • Its near-twin gets praised for exactly this — reviewers call it "easy threading, pro results, zero stress."
💛 Threading is the one thing that puts people off overlockers — so in your free White Glove lesson, we sit with you and thread it together until it clicks. After that, it's genuinely easy, and you're away.
The overlocker ease scale
How easy it is to thread
Threading is the big overlocker question — here's where the 2504D sits.
2504D
AIRFLOW 3000
Thread it yourselfThreads with air
  • 🧵 What it's for: professional seam finishing, and strong, stretchy knit seams.
  • 🪡 Threading: colour-coded guides + the F.A.S.T. lower looper — hands-on, but made simple.
  • 🧵 Fabrics: fine silks to thick denim, and brilliant on knits and stretch.
  • Speed: fast — far quicker than finishing an edge on a regular machine.
  • Professional finish: the whole point — flat, neat, shop-bought seams.
The AIRFLOW 3000 threads with air, runs faster, and adds an even wider range of finishes — it's the premium overlocker.
Ready for more? The next step up

The AIRFLOW 3000 is a genuine step up — the premium overlocker, and worth its higher price:

  • Jet-air threading — thread the loopers with a puff of air at the touch of a button, plus an advanced needle threader; threading becomes effortless.
  • Faster — up to 1,300 stitches a minute (the 2504D runs to 1,000).
  • 2, 3 or 4 thread and a wider range of finishes — including 2-thread flatlock and lettuce edges.
  • Quick-change levers — instant rolled hems, and a one-flick cutting-knife switch.
  • Safety sensors + no lint build-up — it won't run with a cover open, and the air keeps the tubes clear.
  • More specialty feet included — gathering, piping and pearl feet.

The 2504D is a brilliant, affordable everyday overlocker; the AIRFLOW is the one to reach for if you overlock a lot, change thread colours often, or simply want the very best.

The honest bit — what to know
  • Some owners find it skips stitches — almost always a threading slip. Threading has to be just right, and getting it slightly wrong (or the looper threads catching) can cause skipped stitches or a thread break. It's fixable by re-threading carefully, and we'll teach you — but it's the honest reality of a hands-on overlocker.
  • Threading is manual and can feel intimidating at first — the colour-coded guides help, and your free White Glove lesson makes it click.
  • It's a light, modern machine — keep it on a steady table so it stays put while it runs.

If that fuss is what puts you off overlocking, the AIRFLOW's air threading removes it entirely.

🧵 The honest frame: the 2504D is the affordable, everyday overlocker — the secret to clothes that look shop-bought, and brilliant on stretchy knits. If threading worries you, the AIRFLOW 3000 threads with air; but for a professional finish at a sensible price, this is the one.

Threading, without the fear
Brother AIRFLOW 3000The premium air-threading overlocker
R18,500
Photos, features & full description
Brother AIRFLOW 3000
🏆 Premium overlocker✨ White Glove Service — free lesson included
🌬️ Love the finish an overlocker gives, but dread the threading? The AIRFLOW threads itself with a puff of air — the one thing that puts people off overlockers, simply gone.

The AIRFLOW 3000 is the overlocker for people who love the professional, shop-bought finish but hate the fuss. Its jet-air threading sends the thread through the trickiest part — the loopers — with a single puff of air, correctly, every time. A built-in needle threader handles the needles. The threading that scares people off overlockers simply isn't a problem here.

It's Brother's fastest, easiest overlocker — 2, 3 or 4 thread, a wide range of finishes, and brilliant on the hardest fabrics: fine knits, stretch, sheers, even Lycra. This is the premium overlocker, and it earns it.

What it does for you

Not a spec list — what it actually feels like to use.

🌬️ It threads itself — the part everyone dreads, gone
Drop the thread in, press a button, and a puff of air does the threading for you. No fiddling, no tweezers, no "am I doing this right?"
Every other overlocker makes you thread the loopers by hand — the bit that makes people give up.
…you sit down and just sew.
🪡 The needles are done for you too
A built-in threader pops the thread through the needle eyes — no squinting, no lost time.
On most machines you thread tiny needle eyes by hand.
…ready to go in a minute, not ten.
🎨 Whatever your project needs, it can do
Neat edges that never fray, invisible hems, stretchy seams for knits, and pretty decorative trims — all from one machine.
A basic overlocker gives you the everyday few and stops there.
…you're never held back by the machine.
⚡ It flies through the work
Fast enough that a whole pile of hemming, or a batch of orders, is done in an evening.
A slower machine turns a big run into a chore.
…less time finishing, more time creating.
🎚️ Effortless changes, and it looks after you
Flick a lever to switch to a rolled hem; it stops itself if a cover's open or the foot's up, and guards the blade.
Fiddly changeovers, and nothing to catch a mistake.
…smooth, and safe even with a learner at the machine.
The one big irritation of overlocking — solved
This is the machine that changes people's minds.

Ask anyone who's given up on an overlocker, and it's almost always the same reason: threading. An overlocker has four threads to place — two needles and two loopers — and the loopers are the nightmare: fiddly "thread gymnastics" with tweezers, a strict order to follow, and looper threads that catch and snap in the middle of a seam. The AIRFLOW ends all of it. A puff of air threads both loopers in seconds, in any order, and each thread runs safely inside its own tube — so it can't tangle, and it can't snap. If threading is what's kept you away from overlockers, this is the machine that wins you over.

Why it's a joy to use
  • Knits come out flat and smooth, not wavy — and you can make pretty lettuce edges.
  • It sits heavy and steady, so your stitches stay even at full speed.
  • A bright light over the needle — kind on your eyes, even on dark fabrics.
  • Extra feet included for gathering, piping and invisible hems — more you can make, nothing more to buy.
  • Uses ordinary needles, and a free app with how-to videos whenever you want them.
New to overlockers? It's the easiest place to start

Overlockers scare people off for one reason — threading. The AIRFLOW removes that reason entirely, which makes it, oddly, the friendliest overlocker a beginner could choose.

  • Air threads the loopers for you — the hard part is automatic.
  • A needle threader handles the needles — no squinting.
  • You don't even follow a threading order — drop the thread in, press the button.
  • Brilliant for beginners and upgraders alike — from a first overlocker to a step up from a manual one.
💛 We'll still sit with you in your free White Glove lesson and show you the machine end to end — but with the threading done by air, you'll be finishing seams beautifully from the very first day.
Easier for everyone — and safe for a learner

It's the most forgiving overlocker to learn on:

  • No fiddly threading for hands or eyes that struggle with it — the air and needle threader do it for you.
  • Safety sensors stop the machine if a cover's open or the foot's up.
  • Brightly lit and heavy-steady — nothing shifts or strains.
  • A nervous beginner — or a child practising alongside you — can feel genuinely confident at it.
The overlocker ease scale
How easy it is to thread
Threading is the big overlocker question — the AIRFLOW is as easy as it gets.
2504D
AIRFLOW
Thread it yourselfThreads with air
  • 🪡 Threading: effortless — jet air on both loopers, plus a needle threader for the needles.
  • 🧵 Fabrics: the hardest made easy — fine knits, stretch, sheers and Lycra, plus wovens and denim.
  • Speed: fast — up to 1,300 stitches a minute.
  • 🎨 Finishes: the widest range — ten, including flatlock and lettuce edge.
  • Professional finish: flawless, shop-bought seams on anything you make.
  • 🧹 No lint in the tubes: the air keeps the threading tubes clear of fluff.
  • 💪 Build: substantial and solidly made — a chunky, handsome machine.
Build & how long it lasts
💪 Honestly, about the build and the lifespan

The AIRFLOW is more substantially built than an entry overlocker — a chunky, well-made machine that feels solid under your hands — though, like all modern home overlockers, it isn't old-school all-metal. As for how long it lasts, both it and the 2504D will run happily for many years; the biggest factor isn't the machine, it's using it regularly (an overlocker left in a cupboard for years can seize) and keeping it clean and oiled. And whichever you choose, we service it in-house, for life.

The honest bit — what to know
  • Tension is still set by hand — like almost every overlocker at this level, you adjust the dials to the fabric (only the very top machines set tension automatically). The upside: because air threading gets the threading right every time, you'll hit far fewer tension surprises.
  • Like any overlocker, it cuts fabric — so the blade area needs a regular lint-brush and the odd drop of oil (the air keeps the threading tubes themselves clear).
🌬️ The honest frame: the AIRFLOW 3000 is the premium overlocker — effortless jet-air threading, the widest range of finishes, and a flawless, shop-bought finish on even the hardest fabrics. If threading is what's kept you from overlocking, this is the machine that removes the reason. The 2504D gives you the same professional finish for less, with hands-on threading we'll teach you; the AIRFLOW makes the whole thing effortless.

Why Sew & Grow

🎓
The White Glove lesson — free with every machine
Any machine feels daunting the first time — that’s completely normal. So every machine comes with a proper one-on-one lesson with a specialist teacher, on your own machine — never a five-minute handover. You learn it inside out: how to thread it, how to sew on it, and how to care for it so it lasts for years. Can’t come in? We do it online too, so everyone’s covered.
Brand new — direct from Brother
As an authorised Brother dealer, every machine comes to you straight from Brother, factory-sealed and never opened — the honest reason our prices sit where they do. Bigger retailers often buy in bulk and resell machines that other buyers have returned, which is why one can sometimes arrive with a part missing or broken. With us, yours has only ever been yours — brand new. And in the rare case you ever open yours and find something wrong or missing, your warranty has you covered, and we’ll help you sort it out — just contact us directly.
🛠️
Repairs & servicing, for life
Once your Brother warranty ends, you’re still covered — we handle all your repairs and servicing right here, and we show you how to care for your machine so it keeps going for years.
🛡️
Full manufacturer’s warranty
Every machine carries Brother’s full 1-year warranty — and there’s nothing to register. It’s automatic from the day you buy.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

Do you offer refunds if I want to return my machine?+
We don’t do refunds on machines — that’s Brother’s policy for authorised dealers, so it’s the same wherever you buy one, not a Sew & Grow rule. What you get instead is complete protection: every machine is brand new, straight from Brother (never a refurbished return), so a fault is very rare — and if anything ever is wrong, your machine carries Brother’s full manufacturer’s warranty. We look after you straight away and put you in touch with the manufacturer directly. You’re fully covered from the day it arrives.
I'm a beginner — do I really need a top-of-the-range machine?+
Not at all. It comes down to three things: your budget, what you want to make, and the kind of experience you want. A simple starter is perfect for learning; a fancier one just opens up more as you grow. Tell us where you're headed and we'll match the right one.
I'm a complete beginner — won't I ruin the machine?+
No — and here's the way to think about it. A modern computerised machine is the automatic car next to a manual — even a smart, self-driving one. So much is done for you that it practically sews for you. That's what you're really paying for: the convenience, not a certain level of skill. And every bundle includes a one-on-one sewing machine lesson so you know exactly how to use and look after your machine — whether you're a complete beginner or an old hand. You honestly can't ruin it.
What exactly is the sewing machine lesson?+
A proper one-on-one with a specialist teacher on your own machine — not a five-minute handover. You learn your specific machine inside out: the dials and functions, how to sew with it, how to thread it, how to care for it and keep it running well for years — everything your machine needs. Can't come in to the Sewing School? We also do it online, so everyone's covered. Free with every bundle, even if you're not doing a course.
Is the free kit only on the machines shown here?+
No — the deal works with any sewing machine over R4,000 on our site, paired with an overlocker. These are just our most popular picks; if you’d like a different machine, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll set up the same bundle for you.
Do I have to buy both a machine and an overlocker?+
You can buy just one if you like. The free R3,700 Sewer's Essentials kit is our thank-you for taking the full bundle — a machine and an overlocker together.
Can I pay it off, and do you deliver?+
Yes to both. Pay in 3 with PayJustNow, or buy now and pay later — and nothing is charged until you check out. Delivery is free on orders over R4,000.
Is there a warranty?+
Yes — a full manufacturer's warranty on every machine, and we're an authorised Brother dealer with in-house servicing, so you're looked after long after you buy.
Can I buy this as a gift?+
Absolutely — a beautiful machine is a wonderful gift for the sewer (or sewer-to-be) in your life. WhatsApp us and we'll help you choose the perfect one.

💡 Why buying from an authorised dealer matters: Brother’s warranty only covers machines from an authorised dealer like us. Refurbished or returned machines from other sellers may not be covered at all — another reason yours comes brand new, straight from Brother.
