Crochet Teacher Application
Overview
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Crochet Teacher to teach crochet to students of all levels — from absolute beginners picking up a hook for the first time, to more advanced crocheters refining their craft.
A solid, confident command of crochet is mandatory and non-negotiable. Candidates who are not completely confident in their crochet skills will not be considered.
Candidates who can teach a wide range of projects — garments, accessories, amigurumi, blankets and granny squares — will be given preference.

Compensation
This is a part-time role.
- R600 for the entire 3-hour Saturday session.
- Additional compensation will be discussed as well.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills
- Teaching fundamentals: guide students from foundational stitches (chain, slip stitch, single, half-double, double, treble) through to reading patterns, shaping, and finishing.
- Project range: comfortable teaching accessories (scarves, beanies, bags), amigurumi, blankets / granny squares, and ideally wearable garments.
- Pattern literacy: read, follow, and explain written patterns; adjust for gauge/tension, yarn weight, and hook size.
- Finishing skills: seaming, weaving in ends, blocking, and neat edging.
- Teaching experience: previous teaching, or a proven ability to mentor and guide learners, is preferred.
- Patience & student support: a genuine passion for teaching is a must. Students learn at different paces, and this role rewards patience and encouragement.

Location
Our studio is based in Melville, Johannesburg. Candidates must live close by — within a 10km radius of our Melville studio — and be able to commute easily by any form of transport on the days they’re needed.

Position Details
Part-time. 3 hours on a Saturday. The session will likely run in the morning, but the exact time (morning or afternoon) is still to be confirmed — so you must be available on Saturdays.

Trial & Probation
There will be a paid trial period (likely up to one week), followed by a probation period. Particulars will be discussed in the interview.
