What’s on offer at Sew & Grow

Beginners Course 1

This exciting course for beginners is aimed at people who have little to no experience in sewing or using a sewing machine. We will equip you with the skills and language of essential sewing to enable you to read and follow a commercial pattern and to understand and complete a project. This course gives you a strong foundation in sewing therefore you will be able to sew your own garments, gifts, and projects and even build a business of your own from it.

Beginners Course 2

After completion of Course 1, you will move onto Course 2, from which you will learn more advanced sewing techniques which will give you the skills needed to sew almost anything. At this stage your projects will have a professional look and with practice your stitching and finishing will improve. In this course you will work with pockets, elastic casings, piping, button holes etc. Important to not that you have to start with course 1 before doing course 2.

Stretch Course 3

Take your sewing ability to the next level by experiencing the Top Coverstitch machine! You will be sewing your T-shirt and leggings with a 4 thread overlocker and finishing your hem with a beautiful Top cover stitch. Unleash your creativity by making a lined Tote bag, mix and matching contrast fabrics and decorative top stitching to suit your style. Learning to use an overlocker will give all your garments a clean and professional finish and give you the boost to start a business.

Comfy hoodie & sweatshirt

This hoodie and sweatshirt course teachers you step by step to create your cosy hoodie and sweatshirt. To attach linings and hoods, align inside pockets and sew patch pockets to stretch and fleecy fabrics, master and match open zips and to sew centre front facings neatly and accurately. Decorate your hoodie and sweatshirt with the Top Coverstitch machine giving a readymade look.

Flattering skirts

Pleated, gathered and panel skirt. Create your pleated and gathered skirts according to your body type, learning how to sew a curved or a straight waistband. Insert an invisible zip with the easiest technique. Sew a panel skirt to give you a flattering look. All these are done with our guidance and one to one attention. Many interesting techniques to learn as you go.

Bring A Pattern Course

Learn how to sew from a commercial pattern. Even though a sewing pattern might be labelled “Easy” or “Quick” the pattern instructions can be intimidating, especially when you trying to figure out what all the hieroglyphics are on the various part of a pattern. Now that you have completed course 1 and 2 successfully you are ready to create a set of clothes using a pattern of your choice.

Patternmaking Course 1

If you are more advanced at sewing and know the basics, you could take the Pattern Making 1.Learn how take body measurements and learn how to construct pattern slopers to fit your body perfectly: Skirts,Dresses, Sleeves, Collars and Necklines.

Patternmaking Course 2

Master constructing and patternmaking for numerous techniques and styles. Perfect your skills for versatile and stylish garment creation, turning your fashion aspirations into reality with confidence and precision.
