Sewing Instructor (Temporary Position) – Pretoria South

Sew & Grow Sewing School is currently looking for a skilled sewing instructor to join our team for a temporary teaching position.

We are seeking someone who is highly competent in sewing and confident teaching sewing projects from beginner to advanced level.

This role is ideal for someone who has real practical sewing experience and the ability to guide students step-by-step through projects.

This is a short-term opportunity expected to last approximately 2–3 months.


About the Role

As an instructor at Sew & Grow, you will be responsible for:

  • Teaching sewing classes
  • Guiding students through practical sewing projects

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong practical sewing skills
  • Can confidently teach beginner to advanced projects
  • Is comfortable guiding students through sewing processes
  • Is organized, reliable, and professional

This is not a training position. Applicants must already know how to sew and how to teach sewing projects confidently.


Working Schedule

  • 4–5 days per week
  • Approximately 7 hours per day
  • Based at our Training Centre in Pretoria South

Applicants must live reasonably close to Pretoria South.

You must have your own reliable transport.

Please note that transport costs are not compensated, therefore applicants living far from the area should not apply for this position.


Assessment & Hiring Process

To ensure high teaching standards, our hiring process includes several stages.

1. Paid Trial Week

Shortlisted applicants will complete a one-week paid trial.

During this time we will evaluate:

  • Your sewing ability
  • Your ability to guide and assist students
  • Your teaching approach
  • Your professionalism and reliability

This week is not for training. It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your existing skills.

2. Probation Period

Successful candidates will then enter a probation period.

During this time you will be introduced to the Sew & Grow teaching philosophy, classroom structure, and student learning approach.


Salary

Monthly compensation ranges between:

R8,000 – R15,000

Final salary will depend on:

  • Experience
  • Performance during the assessment phase
  • Overall contribution and value to the school

Important Notes

  • This is a temporary position lasting approximately 2–3 months
  • This role is not a permanent position
  • Applicants must already have sewing and teaching experience
  • Applicants must live near Pretoria South and have their own transport
