Sewing Teacher Application

Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Sewing Teacher to teach a variety of sewing techniques, pattern making and garment construction to students of all skill levels.

Note: A solid understanding of sewing techniques is essential, while only a basic knowledge of pattern making is required. Regular training on our curriculum, including pattern making, will be provided. However, candidates with additional pattern making expertise may be eligible for a higher starting salary after the probation period.

Key Responsibilities & Skills Needed:

•⁠ ⁠Teaching Fundamentals: Guide students from basic to advanced sewing skills, including pattern making and fabric selection.

•⁠ ⁠Teaching Experience: Previous teaching experience or a proven ability to mentor and guide learners is preferred.

•⁠ ⁠Equipment Proficiency: Comfortable using sewing machines and overlockers.

•⁠ ⁠Patience and Student Support: Must have a passion for teaching — patience is the name of the game! A group of students will be assigned to you, each coming with their own learning styles & needing their teacher’s dedication. If you lose your nerve easily or can’t hold your concentration for long – this is probably not the position for you.

•⁠ ⁠Good physical health: This position demands being quick on your feet, juggling between students and managing your time and energy well in back-to-back sessions.

•⁠ ⁠Strong Team Spirit: A willingness to collaborate with fellow colleagues & find creative solutions for admin or teaching challenges.

Location: 

We are based in Northcliff, Johannesburg.
Candidate should be within a close distance and able to travel to the school on a daily basis

Position Details:

•⁠ ⁠Availability: Full-time AND part-time opportunities available. Monday to Saturday, with options for either 4-hour or 8-hour shifts each day.
•⁠ ⁠Salary: R6,000 to R11,000 per month, based on appointed shifts, expertise and contribution to the company.
•⁠ ⁠Probation Period: A probation period will apply before a permanent position and final salary are confirmed.
•⁠ ⁠Start Date: January 2025 (Training may happen before)
