No — you are almost certainly not too old to learn to sew. Sewing is a skill built on patience and practice, not youth or quick reflexes, which makes it one of the most age-friendly skills there is. We've taught people well into their later years, and they've thrived. There is no upper age limit on our course at all.
Let's put this fear to rest properly, because it stops so many wonderful people. The belief that learning is ‘for the young’ simply isn't true for a craft like this. Some of our most capable students have been the ones who assumed they'd left it too late.
And the way our teaching is run suits an older learner beautifully. You're never rushed — you work at your own pace, and lessons are properly spaced so skills have time to settle. Our teachers are genuinely patient; they meet you where you are and never make you feel you're holding anyone up. There's a lovely thing that happens for later-in-life students, too: many come in wanting sewing as a meaningful skill for themselves — and then discover they can turn it into an income, a small business, or something to pass on to their children and grandchildren.

my mother is 68 and wants to learn but is nervous about being the oldest there. is that common?
